I recently had the privilege of watching a film titled Journey of the Universe. The film presents the research and scholarship of Yale professors Mary Evelyn Tucker and John Grim. Brian Swimme, a professor of humanities at the California Institute of Integral Studies and devout student of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, hosts the film. Journey of the Universe is the story of complex phenomena – the emergence of the universe, our earth and the development and evolution of life upon it. The story is simply told, intentionally, as Swimme himself explains, in order for children to “know who they are.” But beyond that, the simplicity of this phenomenal story will aid in many more inhabitants of our great earth being able to understand events that most usually can’t be explained!
